Despite some opposition from local services boards, discussion over the creation of an Area Services Board continues in the Kenora District.
The Unincorporated Ratepayers Association was planning to apply to the province to create such a board this month.
Acting Dryden City Manager Art Wellington, who has been part of discussions, says the idea is that everyone pays for services they receive district-wide and the move may also encourage new development in unorganized territory.
In addition, Wellington says unincorporated areas should have a greater say in decisions which are often made on their behalf.
