Dangerous Time For Fires

Fire officials warn it is a dangerous time of year for fires in grassy and wooded areas now that the snow cover has melted.
The Dryden Fire Service has a reminder for parents after a close call with a bush fire on Lakeside Drive yesterday afternoon.
Deputy Fire Chief Ken Kurz says a youngster, experimenting with matches, found out how quickly a fire can spread in seconds.
Kurz says parents should let kids know about the dangers and that anyone over age 12 can be charged for starting a fire.
He adds open air burning is most municipalities is banned from April 1st to November 1st.
For unincorporated areas, contact your local fire service or the Ministry of Natural Resources.
