OPP maintain seatbelts save lives as they release the first week results of a spring seatbelt campaign.
The Dryden/Ignace detachment laid 44 seatbelt charges out of more than 1000 vehicles checked during week one.
Police say the Ignace detachment was especially busy over the weekend issuing 22 seatbelt infractions.
OPP add through education, such as recent child restraint clinics in Ignace and Dryden, seatbelt usage has increased in the past few years.
However, they say some drivers still refuse to buckle up.
