Atikokan Hydro

Hydro Consumers in the Northwest now have the option of choosing a new power provider or staying with their existing supplier under provincial deregulation.
In Atikokan, Mayor Dennis Brown says most residents in the township appear to be happy with Atikokan Hydro and are staying with the municipally-run utility.
Brown says deregulation has already had an impact on consumers in his community.
Atikokan Hydro, which buys power from Hydro One, has been forced to hike power rates since the provincial utility is trying to pay off stranded debt.
