Successful lobbying has paid off for Atikokan.
The Municipality had asked for a change in the social services funding formula to reflect each Municipalities tax assessment.
The Services Board agreed and Mayor Dennis Brown says it will result in savings for his community.
Atikokan will save roughly $100,000 this year due to a change in the formula used by the Services Board to charge Municipalities as well as a change in the registration of a power dam.
The Town is expecting to pay roughly $725,000 for social services this year.
The Rainy-River District Services Board has approved a $20-million budget for 2010.
