OFAH Calling for Return of the Spring Bear Hunt

The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters is once again calling on the Provincial Government to bring back the spring bear hunt.
The calls come after a couple of bear attacks in central Ontario last week and numerous sightings in urban areas of southern Ontario.
OFAH Spokesperson Terry Quinney says the bear population has been growing ever since the spring hunt was canceled.
Quinney also describes the BearWise program as a failure, because it hasn’t controlled the number of encounters between people and black bears.
