Atikokan Worried About Impact on Taxpayers

A reassessment of Atikokan’s major taxpayer has the township reeling.
Mayor Dennis Brown says the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation devalued the Atikokan Generating Station by more than $8-million because of provincial plans to close the plant.
Brown says it means a loss of almost a million dollars in tax revenue.
Brown says he’s also hoping to discuss the matter with Finance Minister Dwight Duncan who’s visiting Thunder Bay next week.
