Major Upgrades Planned for Trans-Canada

Highway 17 west of Kenora is due for a major upgrade next year.
The Provincial government has embarked on a $13-million project to fix up the section of the Trans-Canada between Rush Bay and the Manitoba Border.
Preliminary work has already started and will include grading and drainage improvements, new asphalt, the construction of two new passing lanes and improved lighting at the Rush Bay truck inspection station.
Michael Gravelle is the Minister of Northern Development and Mines and says the Government is still planning to twin Highway 17 between Kenora and the Manitoba Border, but that is a longer term project.
