The Northwest Catholic District School Board has discovered it has a larger budget surplus than first thought.
Board Chair Wade Petranik says the board is looking at a 1.1 million dollar surplus from last year instead of a projected 148-thousand dollar one.
Petranik says the larger surplus is due to the fact that the province changed the funding formula in recent years and the board also over-estimated interest revenues, grants and tuition figures.
The excess money will be placed into reserves and will also be spent on classroom projects.
