Another meeting between mayors and border officials from
Canada and the United States is expected to take place in the next couple of months.
Last week, a summit was held in Windsor to discuss the thorny issue of new American regulations requiring passports for anyone entering the U.S. by 2008.
Dan Onichuck is mayor of Fort Frances and represented the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association at the session.
He says there will be huge ramifications for the economy of this region uniless the situation is resolved.

Onichuck says one of the possible alternatives being looked at is putting a persons nationality on their driver’s licence, instead of requiring a passport.
