The Executive Director of the Ontario Sunset Country Travel Association says its been a disappointing summer in terms of visitor numbers.
Last month, the number of American visitors crossing the border at Fort Frances was down by about 11% compared to July of last year.
Gerry Cariou says its been a difficult summer for most tourist camp operators he’s talked to.
Cariou says high gas prices, difficulties entering Canada from the U.S., the rising Canadian dollar and a lack of tourist marketing by the federal government have all had an impact on the decreasing number of american visitors.
