The Canadian Cancer Society is hoping to raise more than half a million dollars this summer.
Eight Relays for Life will be held in various northwestern Ontario communities.
Regional Manager Maria Cabral says money raised helps keep programs and services going for area cancer patients and their families.
Some of the funds will help with transportation costs.
Last year, events, most hampered by poor weather, garnered about $550,000.
