The Northwest District Catholic School Board stresses the Province’s
current funding formula doesn’t recognize the challenges Northern boards
face.
Superintendant of Business Chris Howarth says their deficit could grow
to $1.75-million next year, meaning the Board would have to reduce
expenditures by 12%.
Howarth warns they would have to cut 16% of their teaching staff and
stresses the move could just be the beginning.
The Board had to take $1.1-million out of reserves last year to
balance the books.
