Catholic Board Ready for New School Year

A larger jurisdiction greets the Northwest Catholic District School Board on the start of the new school year.
An amalgamation with the Atikokan Roman Catholic Separate School Board officially takes effect today.
Director of Education Mary-Catherine Kelly says they are pleased to have St. Patrick’s School in the fold.
Kelly says a computer lab and video-conferencing system has been installed to allow the board to network with the School.
‘Rejoicing in Hope’ is the theme of the new school year for the Board.
While predicting a slight decline in fall enrollment last June, Kelly says early indications point to some growth.
And Kelly says they are in the process of installing 36 of the interactive SMART whiteboards.
Each SMART Board costs approximately $12,000.
St. Joesph’s School and Sacred Heart will each have 5-new SMART Board’s.
