Catholic Board Receives Funds for New Course

The Northwest Catholic District School Board has received nearly $25,000 to offer a Native Language course at Sacred Heart School.
The program is being offered for the first time in Sioux Lookout this year.
The purpose of the course is to increase student achievement among all aboriginal students and to foster closer ties with First Nation communities.
Meantime, the Board has announced former St. Joseph’s student Gracie Baron has received the Young Authors Award from the Ontario Catholic School Trustees Association.
Her poem, “In the Clouds” was highlighted in a collection of writings submitted by students across Ontario.
