Northwestern Ontario is testing its disaster response system starting Monday with a massive exercise in the Thunder Bay region.
Exercise Trillium Response will simulate a massive ice storm similar to the one that devastated eastern Ontario and Quebec in 1998.
The exercise will run until the 23rd and encompass 25 area municipalities and 3 First Nations.
More than 1,500 participants from the Ontario and federal governments will take part in the exercise as will 1,000 members of the Canadian Forces.
Dryden will not play an active role in the exercise as the City along with Kenora have already conducted emergency training.
