Marijuana officially becomes legal in Canada on Wednesday, and the Kenora Catholic District School Board, which oversees operations at St. John in Red Lake, wants to make sure local parents and students are ready.
Mental Health Lead Sue Devlin says they are concerned about the potential affects of pot on students.
Devlin says youth are especially vulnerable to the effects of cannabis since their brain development isn’t complete until the age of 25.
She says they are joining forces with provincial police and other health care providers to talk about the risks of marijuana use and signs of abuse.
