Badly needed funding for Making Connections for Children and Youth in Dryden.
Board Chair Helena Clark is thanking the local Rotary Charity Foundation for a $10,000 funding contribution.
Clark says the money will help disadvantaged children take part in a wide range of recreational activities, camps, music and drama classes and other social events.
Those could include Dryden Entertainment Series, school trips, Girl Guides and Brownies.
Clark stresses there’s also a serious need right now for transportation for their youth, noting several don’t have the means and the way to attend their event.
She notes the organization is currently working with the City of Dryden and taxi companies on a transportation strategy.
Clark adds all money from outside organizations goes directly to youth and not day-to-day operations for their group.
She says Making Connections for Children and Youth serves about 400 local youth a year.
She notes there are roughly 11 participating organizations to contact including Ontario Works, the Dryden Native Friendship Centre, Dryden Native Women’s Association, Firefly and the Northwestern Health Unit.
The KDSB also recently provided $125,000 in funding.
