City Reaches Deal With MNR For Forest Fires

The City of Dryden and Ministry of Natural Resources have reached a new 5-year agreement on forest fire management.
The deal is needed in case one of the parties requires the services of the other in the event of a forest fire.
Fire Chief Ken Kurz says they did some revisions since January with the MNR to trade more land to be under municipal responsibility for fire protection and that brought the rates down slightly.
Kurz says the City’s costs for the 2013 year will total 26-hundred dollars, which is about 2-grand less from previous agreements and will go up a bit over the next 4-years.
