Dryden Mayor Craig Nuttall says it takes a “Philadelphia Lawyer” to figure out what’s going on with City water bills.
The new water meter bills are out and Nuttall says he’s been bombarded with calls from angry residents claiming they are getting double billed.
Nuttall says his staff and the City Treasurer are wrongfully taking all of the heat.
City staff stress that water consumers aren’t getting double billed.
Officials stress that the billing system has been in place for years and the City accounting firm has agreed that the current system is the best practice.
Staff note water bills will always be a month behind as volume is checked on the final day of each month.
For example: a bill for June 4th-27th is really your bill for May.
However, staff have agreed to go back to the drawing board and look at the wording contained in the bills.
