College Student Unions Lobby For Labour Peace

With the strike by college teachers in Ontario into its second week, student union leaders will be trying get both sides back to the bargaining table.

Jodi Afonso is the president of the Confederation College Student Union, and says she and her colleagues are going to Queen’s Park to lobby politicians.

The union has teamed up with its counterparts at eight large schools, which she says represent over 300,000 students in total.

“[When] you have this many voices of students putting that pressure on, hopefully they’ll have some resolution,” Afonso notes.

They’ll be speaking with the Premier’s Chief of Staff and Deputy Premier Deb Matthews on Thursday afternoon. (File Photo)
