Fatal Crash Near Shabaqua

Provincial Police are investigating a fatal collision on Highway 17 near Ivar Road west of Shabaqua.

OPP, fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the crash between an east bound commercial motor vehicle and a west bound passenger car Tuesday afternoon.

The driver of the commercial vehicle, a 64 year old man from Waldhof, had no injuries but the driver of the other vehicle was declared dead at the scene.The deceased is a 38-year-old Thunder Bay woman.

The crash closed the Trans Canada for much of the day and into the night.

Police are reminding drivers to adjust their driving habits to suit weather conditions.

This includes slowing down, adjusting distance between vehicles, or choosing not to drive at all.
