Common Sense Firearms Licensing Act Introduced In Ottawa

The Harper Government has introduced the Common Sense Firearms Licensing Act.
The legislation eliminates paperwork when transporting firearms as well as streamlines the licensing system.
Other changes include a 6-month grace period at the end of the licensing period to stop people from becoming criminalized for paperwork delays around renewals.
Natural Resources Minister Greg Rickford expects considerable debate on the motion when it comes up for discussion in the House of Commons after the Thanksgiving break.
He’s anxious to see how John Rafferty and Bruce Hyer plan to vote as the bill will have major positive spin-off’s for northerners.
Rickford says the NDP government has already promised to bring back the long gun registry if they are elected next year.
The Kenora MP stresses the legislation meets the government’s objective to cut red tape for law-abiding firearms owners and provide safe and simple firearms policies.
