A stingy, unrelenting defence gave the Dryden Eagles offence all the opportunities they needed and they didn’t disappointed.
The Eagles shutdown the Beaver Brae Broncos 33-7 Friday afternoon to claim bragging rights in the ‘Homecoming’ rivalry at Harry McMaster Field.
Dryden opened the game with a 5-yard touchdown run from Jarrett Hicks, before the Broncos quickly struck back.
After that it was all Eagles.
Bruce Anderson found Mason Desautels wide open for a 52-yard touchdown.
Hicks returned from injury to record a 30-yard touchdown run and a then found Desautels for a 5-yard score.
The Eagles defence did the rest of the work, rushing the Bronco quarter-back on every play, recording multiple sacks and turnovers.
Dryden also shut down their run game and often left the offence with great field position.
The Eagles are now 1-1, while the Broncos fell to 1-1.
The ‘Blue and Gold’ are back in action Thursday on home turf.
