Confederation College is teaming up with the District of Kenora Home for the Aged, Patricia Region Senior Services Inc. and ParaMed to give a more hands-on learning experience for students.
“Living Classroom” is the name of the program which gives students learning about becoming Personal Service Workers real life experience.
CEO for the District of Kenora Home for the Aged Kevin Queen says the program is already successful in Kenora.
Queen says aside from giving students an easier way to find work, it also helps fill the need for more PSWs in the region.
College President Jim Madder is glad to bring this program to the area and to help find a solution to the shortage of PSWs.
Madder also says the initiative helps keep students and workers in the region since it gets the students comfortable in the workplace before they graduate.
