Court Case Over For a Former Sioux Lookout Residen

A former Principal at Sioux Mountain School has pleaded guilty to theft not exceeding $5,000 and has received a conditional discharge.

Court heard that Brendan Kelly used Public School Board money to pay for a personal Real Estate transaction.

Judge Paul Hryn stated that the crime was serious but believed Kelly did not deceive anyone and did pay back the money.

Hryn added that there was no attempt to hide the cash and said that he was an active member in the community with no criminal record.

Kelly was ordered to write a letter of apology and must report to a Probation Officer for the next 9 months.

Kelly’s Defense says he is now the Director of Education for a First Nation in Parry Sound and an active member in that community.
