A lawyer for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission is taking a wait and see approach to a recent judges ruling.
The Ontario justice ordered the destruction of recordings by residential school survivors given during the commission hearings.
When speaking, Commission Lawyer Julian Falconer was cautious about giving his opinion.
Falconer says it’s still too early to be either praising or criticizing the judgement.
He says there’s still a lot of work to do to contact the survivors who may wish their record be kept.
The judge believed the 15 year period would give survivors the chance to decide on what to do with their records
