A familiar scam is back in the area.
A caller informed the CKDR Newsroom that he was contacted by phone from someone claiming to be from the Canada Revenue Agency.
The man, who had a European accent, advised the intended victim that he has been red flagged and it’s urgent that he catches up on taxes owing.
The caller also stated the police were involved.
The local resident told the man he had to put him on hold in order to write down the information, and when he picked up again, the caller had hung up.
Usually personal information is requested by the scammer but the CRA stresses they don’t conduct business in this way.
