City Councillors in Thunder Bay are being asked to support a call for a national inquiry into murdered and missing Aboriginal women.
Crime Prevention Chair Tom Walters doesn’t believe the organization is overstepping its bounds by getting into the political arena.
Walters says the inspiration came from an RCMP report on the issue.
He says it was clear the number of Aboriginal women who had been murdered or missing was much higher than what the population would suggest.
Walters believes the move coincides with the councils mandate to support the Aboriginal population.
The request will come to city Councillors Monday night.
