CUPE wants to keep Rainycrest in public hands

CUPE hates Extendicare – nov 29 – awd

The union representing 185 workers at Rainycrest Home for the Aged in Fort Frances fears a private management firm will cut services and jobs and lead to tax dollars being wasted.

Laura-lie Caldwell of CUPE local 65 believes the long term care facility must remain firmly in public hands.

Caldwell adds letting a private company take over management of the home is like letting a fox into a henhouse.

The Rainycrest Board of Directors is considering using Extendicare, a multinational corporation, to manage on an interim basis to get the financially troubled home in shape.
