Regional airport officials are pleased now they have received word customs service is returning to Red Lake, Sioux Lookout and Dryden.
The CAN-PASS system was suspended following 9-11 and airports in the region have been trying to have the service reinstated ever since.
Dryden Airport Manager George Friesen expects CAN-PASS to be back in place by this weekend.
He adds the timing could not be better considering the long weekend marks the unofficial start of the summer tourism season.
Friesen says there are still hurdles to overcome surrounding funding but he feels a solution is in sight.
