OPP are in the process of taking over policing the Township of Atikokan and that had public school board officials worried.
The township police force had offered the DARE program at schools in Atikokan and the Rainy River District School Board feared the program would be lost in the changeover.
However, Fort Frances OPP Staff Sergeant Hugh Dennis has assured the school board the DARE program will continue in Atikokan
Dennis adds the drug awareness education program has become a valuable tool for all students in the district.
