Both levels of government are providing more information on a new $22-billion, 10-year infrastructure program for Ontario municipalities.
Federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, Amarjeet Sohi says the deal with Ontario will see the feds contribute $11.8-billion.
The province will kick in another $10-billion.
Sohi says the funding will support public transit, green infrastructure and community cultural and recreational infrastructure.
Close to half a billion dollars is being earmarked for specific projects in rural and northern Ontario.
Ontario Association of Municipalities President Lynn Dolan calls it an important announcement, noting it will help build healthy and thriving communities.
The province’s Infrastructure Minister Bob Chiarelli says they’re now looking at how to dole out the cash.
