DOKURA Addressing Land Tax Reform

The District of Kenora Unincorporated Ratepayers Association has a long list of recommendations for Ontario’s Ministry of Finance.

Association executive have sat down with provincial finance reps to talk about land tax reform.

President Jack McKenzie says one of the things they want from the province is a more equitable tax rate for properties in the unincorporated area.

McKenzie is pushing for an increase to the minimum tax a property owner pays to about $100.

This past year, the minimum tax in the unincorporated area increased from $6 up to $50.
