National Forestry week continues and Domtar is taking a look at some interesting industry facts today.
Spokesperson Bonny Skene says two-thirds of Ontario is covered by forest.
She notes that is larger than some European countries.
Skene says 80% of that forest is crown land and is managed by the province and its citizens.
Skene notes the forestry sector is generating more talk in Southern Ontario and at the provincial level.
She says over 200,000 people in Ontario work in the industry, second only to the auto sector in exports.
Skene adds Domtar continues to manage the Trout Lake Forest and the Wabigoon Forest.
She says they harvest under 1% of those forest areas a year.
Skene is also reminding local residents to take part in the pulp art contest.
More details are available by visiting the gatehouse at the Dryden Mill.
