The most prestigious award in the SIJHL is going to a long-time Thunder Bay assistant coach this year.
Doug Colbon of the North Stars has received the Gary Cook Memorial Award.
The distinguished honour is presented annually to an individual in recognition for their efforts, commitment and contributions to their team and the league.
Colbon has been associated with the SIJHL for many of its 16-years of operation as either a head coach or an assistant.
He has also been a figurehead of Junior hockey in Thunder Bay for a number of years.
