Local MPP Pushing For Lyme Disease Strategy

The Ontario Liberals are being accused of sitting on a report on Lyme Disease.

Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell says the Minister of Health and Long Term Care was notified of high rates of infected ticks in the Kenora District last November, but still hasn’t drafted a strategy for dealing with the illness.

Campbell calls it a health care crisis and says the government didn’t even notify the public about the findings in the study.

She stresses quick treatment is the best antidote to Lyme Disease and accuses the government of failing to act on this health crisis.

Campbell calls the results of the research done in the area as a “bombshell” for people living in the northwest.

She says far too many are already suffering from the debilitating disease.
