DPS And Ice Dogs Team Up For Local ‘Coat Drive’

Now that Winter appears to be here, it’s time to help make it a warm one for the less fortunate in the Dryden area.

The Dryden Police Service is hosting a ‘Coat Drive’ during Saturday’s GM Ice Dogs-Miners game at the Memorial Arena.

Community Services Officer Denise Szachury was a guest on the CKDR Morning Show Friday to promote the campaign.

Szachury says the initiative was launched last year and was an overwhelming and instant success.

She notes the Police have formed a strong partnership with the Ice Dogs to help those in need.

Fans and members of the public are asked to visit the Arena tomorrow and drop-off coats, mitts, scarves, snowsuits, winter jackets, ski pants, boots and new toques.

Anyone donating will have their name entered to win tickets to a Dryden GM Ice Dogs regular season home game.

Szachury says all items will stay in the community to support local families.

There will be another opportunity to donate at the November 10th Ice Dogs game and items can also be dropped off at the Dryden Police Detachment at 64 King Street or at CKDR at 122 King Street.
