It was a long, cold, dark night for thousands of Hydro One customers as heavy, wet snow knocked down power lines and trees.
Hydro One says there are almost 8,000 people across northwestern Ontario without electricity this hour in various locations, including several across the Kenora district.
The hardest hit is the Kenora area as more than 2,100 customers are in the dark.
In some cases, Hydro One says the power might not be restored until 10:00 Friday night.
The Eagle Lake-Vermilion Bay area is dealing with 15-separate outages, impacting 499-customers.
73-homes and businesses in the Dryden area are also without power.
Hydro One hopes to have the lights back on by 3:00 Friday afternoon.
