The first draft of the 2011 City of Dryden budget is before Council.
The budget summary includes a total operating and capital deficit of just over $6-million.
A total of 83 capital projects are proposed.
The first draft includes; Animal Shelter renovations, sidewalk rehabilitation, the replacement of 4-Municipal vehicles, safety cameras for the river walkway, road work on Duke Street from Colonization to Casimir Avenue, accessibility renovations in several Municipal buildings, roadwork on Myrtle Avenue, design work for the King Street Underpass, upgrades to the Water Treatment Plant, replacement of lighting in Arena 1 and 2, a second Transtor Unit for the recycling program, new Tennis Courts in Rotary Park, a new Outdoor Fitness Park, re-roofing of the Children’s Resource Centre, phase one of Arena renovations, a new Zamboni and the purchase of waterfront development property located at the end of Van Horne Drive.
The total amount of work after grants, comes in at nearly $5.3-million.
Mayor Craig Nuttall has warned that the budget must be based on needs and not wants.
A public meeting to discuss the budget is set for next Monday at 7 o’clock.
