The Dryden Regional Health Centre has agreed to sign a new Provincial Accountability agreement which has come under fire from several Hospitals.
Assistant CEO Wade Petranick says Bill-8 is far from perfect but agreeing to its conditions is something that has to be done.
Petranick says it sets strict accountability requirements in return for an extra $492,000 in annual base funding.
Under the deal, Hospitals running or anticipating a deficit must submit a balanced budget plan, which will likely lead to significant cuts and difficult decisions.
Only 20% of Ontario Hospitals are running a surplus including the DRHC.
