Dryden Budget Nearing Completion

Dryden residents may be asked to pay more to keep the City running.
Council is looking at a 5-6% tax hike as the annual budget is close to being finalized.
Treasurer Paul Heayn says a 5% hike doesn’t even cover the Municipal levies from outside agencies.
The draft still includes a $254,000 shortfall and Heayn says there are a number of options available in order to balance the books.
Some options being tossed around include an additional 1-2% increase in taxes, delaying reconstruction work on Lakeside Drive, as well as reduce the Information Technology budget.
Council seem to favour another 1% increase in taxes to cover the shortfall.
The draft budget also includes increased fees for sewer, water, tipping fees and bag tag, however contains no service level or staff cuts.
The final budget is expected for approval April 19th.
