Dryden Council Faces Tough Decisions

Dryden City Council is facing some tough decisions as it considers a number of projects in the 2002 budget process.
Councillors must decide if the city should go ahead with a number of capital projects such as renovating both the former Dryden Hydro building and Public Safety Building to accommodate police and fire services as well as replacing an aging aerial fire truck.
Mayor Sid Wintle says councillors must look at what is really needed to avoid a deficit situation.
Dryden City Council has yet to decide what kind of tax increase ratepayers may face this year as it grapples with higher levies for recycling, the Northwestern Health Unit and the Home for the Aged.
