Dryden GM Ice Dogs Give Back To Community

It was a heartwarming day Wednesday as the entire Dryden GM Ice Dogs team was on hand at the Dryden Regional Health Centre to make a sizeable donation.

The Ice Dogs handed over a cheque for $5,000 in support of the hospital Oncology Unit.

The money comes from the Annual Best Western Plus ‘Pink the Rink’ game held this past Saturday that saw over 700 people in attendance to help in the fight against cancer.

The fundraiser has been a part of Ice Dogs tradition for over ten years now and the Junior Hockey team says they are proud to give back to the community.

Hospital Recruitment and Fundraising lead Chuck Schmitt says he’s amazed with the yearly contribution the team makes, given most junior teams are fighting to stay afloat.

He says the kids and the organization are a true reflection of the community and he’s proud that the hospital is associated with the team.

Schmitt adds the money will go directly towards patient care, for the purchase of equipment for cancer patients.
