Dryden Police Chief Applauds Ruling On Stun Guns

Dryden Police Chief Rob Davis thinks giving all front line officers a stun-gun is a great idea.
The Ontario Government made the announcement this morning, adding that the tasers will be funded by individual police forces.
Davis says cost won’t be an issue, adding that they would have enough for officers on duty which is usually 3 at a time.
In regards to the use of tasers, Davis says it gives them that less lethal use of force option, and research shows when a taser is drawn, it deescalates things quickly.
While the announcement is relativity new, Davis says this has been a topic of discussion for a while now.
Currently, only front-line supervisors with the Dryden Police Service are allowed to carry tasers.
Davis says he will wait for other police services to get in line before rolling out tasers to all officers.
