Expect to see more “foot soldiers” patrolling the streets this summer.
Dryden Police say increased hours of foot patrol is a main component of a new patrol plan.
Acting Chief Derek West says he’s been been encouraging officers to hit the beat if time permits.
Officers have logged 57-hours walking the beat this years, down from nearly 107-hours this time last year.
However, Acting Inspector Ann Tkachyk calls those stats very misleading as in a lot of cases officers are just not calling it in to Owen Sound and those hours aren’t being captured.
Mayor Craig Nuttall is hoping to have officers on the streets as much as possible, calling it a valuable service.
