Earfalls Generating Station

The Ontario Power Generation plant in Ear Falls is

expanding to include an additional 12 megawatt

hydroelectric generating unit.

The new unit will be capable of generating 52 million

kilowatts an hour of clean, reliable hydro-electricity per

year, enough to power over 4-thousand homes.

Spokesperson John Earl says it will be built on the

English River, and will make good use of the available

water, while not changing it’s flows, or the flows out of

Lac Seul.

Construction will begin this spring, and the company

hopes to have the unit up and running by fall 2006.
