The Minister of Education still believes the recent contract talks with Ontario teachers will have a “net zero” impact on the budget.
A new report suggests the negotiations will end up costing $300-million more.
But Liz Sandals says they are banking on the fact the new benefit plans will save money in the long run.
Sandles says the money will be used to set up five health, life and dental trusts that will consolidate more than 1,000 “ineffective” current benefit plans.
