Electricity Coming To First Nation Communities

$1.6-billion is being granted to an Indigenous power company in the northwest.

Wataynikaneyap Power is getting the money to help it connect remote First Nation communities to the provincial power grid.

The announcement was made yesterday afternoon by Premier Kathleen Wynne and federal Indigenous Services Minister Jane Philpot.

It was also attended by Indigenous leaders from around the region during the lengthy election-style announcement by the premier.
