The staffing shortage at the Kenora Detachment of the OPP is getting worse, not better.
In the past month, the number of positions vacant has increased from 20 up to 28.
Shaun Crabbe has been the acting detachment commander for the past six months and says the staff shortage is for a variety of reasons.
“A lot of those are due to either on duty injuries, surgeries, WSI related absences, transfers out of Kenora and a couple resignations as well.”
Crabbe has since left the Kenora Detachment and returned to Red Lake, meaning the Inspector’s position is also vacant right now.
